An itinerary where silence frames a continuous ups and downs; the climbs are important, long and with steep slopes, but the destination pays off all the effort.
It is probably the "toughest" tour, the kilometers are not many (about 40), but the climb (with 650mt of elevation gain) and steep slopes is a good test for the legs. The route crosses the eastern side of Montescudaio to coast the river Cecina between cultivated fields and some farms now abandoned. Start then the ascent to the castle of Querceto, where you can catch your breath in its beautiful square, filling the water bottle at the source or enjoying the typical local products accompanied by a glass of wine. The return (about 14 km) is on asphalt roads in the open countryside, little frequented with a moderate climb. For the more trained there is also the possibility of returning through the woods of the Macchia della Magona, but the total path becomes 55 km with a thousand meters of altitude difference and also requires a good driving technique.
People with a good athletic preparation for cycling, able to cope with rather long climbs with steep sections or it is recommended to use an e-bike (packed lunch is recommended).
